Almost all of the rural women working with Okhai feel a need for the brand in their life as much as the brand itself needs them, says Bharmiben who has been working as a quality check incharge for the last five years.
Bharmiben ensures that every product that comes out of the centre is of excellent quality. She says, "Quality is of utmost importance at Okhai and we follow a three-step check to ensure that the fabric and its handcrafted design is done to perfection. The fabric and its quality is checked at OST, then again at the villages and then at Okhai for the quality of embroidery and appliqué work." Bharmiben then sends the clothes for ironing and maintains a record of every fabric at every stage. Apart from quality, Bharmiben also manages and attends to customers who visit the Okhai centre.
Bharmiben initially use to work from home for few hours every day but as she realised that Okhai could help her grow as an individual, she joined as a full-time member. Ever since then there has been no looking back. "Okhai has helped me be independent and assist my parents financially. I have grown more confident and no longer feel uncomfortable about meeting new people," she says, adding that the brand and her work here is an integral part of her life.
